After replying to Kirk’s text, Caroline sent him another text after a moment’s thought. “I’ll be

He praised, “How about you? I heard you’ve become Evans Group’s CEO, and you’ve been doing a
great job. I’m really proud of you.”

The two chatted for a while. Then, they heard Eddy’s voice from outside the door.
“Grandpa! Grandpa!” His shouts grew louder and louder as he drew closer. Once he came in, he
stopped yelling.
When Jude saw Eddy, he stopped smiling like he usually did. Instead, he frowned and asked
unhappily, “What are you doing back home?”
