Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo ) Chapter 231

Chapter 231

Leanne couldn’t help but want to chuckle, her face pressed against the elevator’s shiny metal doors, trying hard not to.

Curtis was visibly annoyed, “Did that little rascal learn from you? How to be such a pain.”

Leanne turned her back to him, her posture screaming “I don’t want to talk to you.”

Curtis pretended not to notice, “It’s snowing today, so let me give you a ride.”

Leanne turned around, a hint of sarcasm in her voice, “Give me a ride to the city hall for a divorce?”

Curtis, usually stoic, surprisingly agreed with a soft look, “Sure. If you’re down for it, let’s go.”

His easy agreement was so unexpected that Leanne was momentarily stunned. Then it hit her, the city hall was closed because of the holiday.

So, she reverted to her impassive facade and turned away without another word.

ElitePinnacle, with its Bullion Boulevard credentials, had a significant portion of its operations overseas. The Christmas holiday didn’t exactly mean a full break for them.

Despite the notorious workload, Curtis wasn’t a heartless taskmaster. He gave out holidays wherever possible and allowed work-from-home to avoid overtime during the

But the man himself couldn’t sit still. Returning to the office in the afternoon, he wrapped up a video conference with clients from Munich by evening. Noticing the time, he decided to head to the hospital.

Arriving early, Leanne was still on her shift.

He exited his car and strolled familiarly towards the ophthalmology department, only to find Leanne wasn’t in her office.

Standing by the door, he caught a glimpse of a young female doctor exiting and politely asked, “Where’s Dr. Castillo?”

Amy, her hottie alert buzzing but keeping her cool, shot back, “Dr. Castillo’s over in the pediatric oncology ward.”

Pediatrics? Oncology? Ward?

Those words triggered a tsunami in Curtis’ mind.

What was an ophthalmologist doing in the oncology ward? Visiting a child? But whose?

“Visiting a kid?” his tone was unclear.

Amy responded, “Yeah.”

Where else would she go in a pediatric ward but to see children?

So, Curtis and Leanne had a child with cancer who was staying in this hospital.

The information made Curtis’ casual demeanor plummet into a dark, stormy expression.

Leaving the ophthalmology department, his face was as grim as the sky before a storm.

Reaching the pediatric oncology ward, he saw Leanne exiting a room, her back to him, heading towards the doctor’s office.

Curtis watched her leave with a heavy heart, then approached the room she had exited.

His hand was on the cold metal doorknob, his heart raced like never before.

If it were true, if Leanne had been caring for a sick child alone all these years, then he was indeed unforgivable.

Pushing the door open, the unique hospital scent greeted him.

The room was quiet. A little boy, about five or six, lay on the bed near the door, blankly staring at him.

Clueless, definitely not his child.

The middle bed was empty, and further in, a girl sat on a white hospital bed, wearing a Peppa Pig hat, focused on solving math problems on a small table.

Curtis paused, observing her.

She looked smart and cute, probably eight or nine years old. If Leanne could have a child this age, he’d had to have started trying since her high school days.

Curtis’ emotions were like a tumultuous wave, reaching its peak, only to be told the tsunami was canceled.

The letdown was awkward, to say the least.

He glanced back and forth between the two children. Then he found an excuse, “Dr. Castillo left something with me. Do either of you know her?”

The little boy continued to look bewildered.
