Celena’s cheek stung badly, and a vivid handprint blazed across her once pale and lovely face. The Stone family’s insults echoed in her ears, and tears welled up in her eyes
Cheryl’s slap had shattered her resolve, and the jeers from the Stone family snapped her back to a harsh reality.
The Stone family was no longer her refuge. There was no place for her and Jovie within the Stone family’s walls. “Liam, let’s get out of here and never look back. The Stone family isn’t my home anymore. They won’t accept me…” Celena said as she turned and tugged at Liam’s arm.
However, Liam stood rooted to the spot. He could not believe Cheryl had slapped Celena right in front of him, causing her cheek to swell before his eyes. Rage ignited within him.
The usually calm Liam was suddenly a storm of fury, his presence dominating the banquet hall. He pulled Celena back from leaving and fixed Cheryl with an icy glare. He roared, “Apologize to her. Now!”
His demand was met with sneers and eye rolls from the crowd. They looked at Liam as if he had lost his mind. “Has Liam gone crazy? A nobody from the Cole family expecting an apology from Cheryl? Does he think he’s someone special?”
“Please, he’s got no connections. I’ve done my homework. Liam’s just a hot-headed ex-soldier who’s recently left the service with no one to back him up!”
“And that makes him what? A nobody! Hahaha, Liam’s got a death wish, acting up at Mr. Stone’s birthday party like that!”
Cheryl was a bit wary of Liam, but she drew courage from the

presence of her grandfather, her parents, and especially Celena at the event. With her family around, she was sure Celena would not dare encourage Liam to harm her.

She wore a look of scorn, arms folded, eyes looking down on Liam with haughty pride. She let out a disdainful snort. “Hmph! Me, apologize to her? Is that lowlife even worth it? Liam, you’re just a lost mutt. What gives you the right to boss me around? I have not even begun to deal with you, and you have the nerve to show up here! You two are quite the pair, a lost mutt and a disgrace who’s been kicked out of her own home. Then, there’s the little love child. What a ‘happy family* you make! Want me to apologize? Dream on!”
Slap!
The sound of Liam’s hand striking Cheryl’s cheek was like a thunderclap, sending her surgically enhanced nose and chin askew.
“Is this what the Stone family calls manners? Has the Stone family run out of decent people where there isn’t one person here to know manners? Since no one else will teach you, I guess it’s up to me to give you a lesson!” Liam’s voice was icy.
“Ahhh! How dare you hit me? Who do you think you are?”
Cheryl clutched her face, screaming with rage as she stared at Liam with a death glare, wishing she could tear him to shreds.
The Stone family and their guests were completely taken aback. Who would have thought Liam would lash out and hit someone? Liam was just too full of himself!
It was a direct affront to Reginald himself!
