“Madam Mare… A-Are you joking?” 

Jalen stared at Lauren intently, seemingly trying to catch a sign that she was lying from her facial expressions. 

Lauren did not bother explaining further as she placed the phone on 

the coffee table. 

Everyone immediately saw the text message Hera sent. 

All of them had witnessed Hera’s growth. They knew she would not be cracking jokes at times like these 

“Hahaha…” 

“Wonderful, this is wonderful! Hera has found herself a wonderful 

husband!” 

“All our problems will be solved if we’ve acquired Innovate Collective!” 

“This is wonderful. The founding chairman will be able to rest easy, 

bless his soul!” 

Tears of joy brimmed in the managers’ eyes. 

Jalen abruptly got to his feet and said solemnly, “Let’s adjourn the 

meeting for today!” 

Upon hearing that, the smiles immediately vanished from everyone’s 

faces.

Was he upset over this piece of wonderful news? 

The chairman had not even said anything yet. 

He was a mere manager. Who did he think he was to announce that the meeting was adjourned? 

An ugly look appeared on Seamus’ face as he nearly lost control of 

his temper. 

The manager of the Business Department grabbed an ashtray and nearly lobbed it toward Jalen’s head, 

Jalen’s eyes widened as he hurriedly said, “What I meant was that Harrison and Lauren should hurry home and prepare dinner since it’s 

getting late!” 

He was part of Baroque’s production line and had been one of the most stressed individuals when the company was struggling. 

Now that the problem had been taken care of, he was overjoyed. 

“God damn it, can you finish your sentences in one go? I nearly lost 

control of myself!” 

The manager of the Business Department put the ashtray back down, prompting Seamus and the others to burst into laughter. 

Harrison finally recovered his wits and said, “Jalen is right. I should share a drink or two with my son-in-law tonight!” 

The meeting ended amidst laughter. 

Nash had no idea he had solved all of Baroque’s problems. 

He acquired Innovate Collective for the sole reason that their 

employees dared lay a finger on his family. 

Three vans filled to the brim with medicinal herbs were parked at the 

villa’s entrance. 

“Nashy, was this what you meant when you invited me over for 

drinks?” 

Eric carried two bags of herbs down the steps into the basement. 

There was a disgruntled expression on his face. 

He had been shopping with Winnie when Nash called and invited him. 

over for drinks. 

He only realized he had been fooled upon arriving at Nash’s place. 

Nash exited the basement and grinned, “We can drink to our heart content once I finish crafting the medicinal pills!” 

When he finished his sentence, he turned to Melody, who was sitting 

in the driver’s seat of a 911 Porsche. She was scrolling through her 

phone. “Ms. Stone, can’t you help us out here?” 

Nash did not ask the van drivers to help bring the goods into the 

basement because there were herbs that had supposedly gone 

extinct and the divine cauldron there! 

Melody rolled her eyes at Nash. “I’m a woman. Why are you making 

me engage in physical labor?” 

These herbs had cost her 300 million dollars. 

Her wallet was still recovering from that bill! 

“Gosh, Nashy. I don’t want to berate you, but you truly have no idea of how to be chivalrous. How could you ask such a good-looking 

woman to do work like this?” 

Eric did not hesitate to take Melody’s side as he walked out of the 

basement. 

“I can’t believe you’re valuing sex over our friendship!” 

That was all Nash said before he continued moving the herbs. 

Of course, he was not actually trying to get Melody to help him bring 

the goods in. 

It was just that Melody had not spoken to him since they returned. All he had been doing was purposely striking up a conversation to reduce 

some of the tension in the air. 

He knew why Melody was not speaking to him. 

These herbs cost a hefty amount of money. Some serious damage 

had been done to Melody’s finances 

He would have to compensate her handsomely once he finished 

crafting the medicinal pills. 

“I’ll get a move on. I have a movie date with Winnie this evening. 

Remember to buy me a drink next time we meet!” 

Eric clasped his hands behind his back and sauntered off. 

“Alright. See you, Eric!” 

Nash smiled as he gazed at Eric’s retreating figure. 

Then, Melody closed the car door and revved the engine. 

“Where are you going?” Nash asked instinctively. 

“I’m going to pick up your wife!” 

Melody put on her sunglasses and stepped on the gas. 

The Porsche immediately catapulted off the ground with a swooshing 

noise as it shot toward Nash.
